Troy M. Powers, OD
Dr. Powers received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1991 and his Batchelor of Science in Biology from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA in 1987. 2024 will be Dr. Powers’ 33 year serving the patients of the Northland in our office.
Dr. Powers grew up in Wrenshall, MN and later Lake Charles, LA. He returned to our area immediately after completing his education and started working at our current location. Dr. Powers and his wife Jill live in Wrenshall and he has two adult children. Dr. Powers has a passion for dirt track auto racing. He can be found at local, regional, and national events when time allows. He also enjoys basketball and was a former High School coach. He has been a frustrated Minnesota Viking fan his entire life.
Erin K. Petersen, OD
Dr. Peterson received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Indiana College of Optometry, Bloomington, IN in 2010 and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND in 2006. Dr. Petersen joined our practice in 2010.
Dr. Petersen is originally from Bismarck, ND. She lives in Duluth with her husband Andy and two children. She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and golfing.
Caitlin N. Heggestad, OD
Dr. Heggestad received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2015. She worked for several years in Rochester, MN before moving back to her favorite city, Duluth, joining our staff in 2021. She is passionate about Optometry and enjoys caring for patients of all ages.
In her free time, Dr. Heggestad enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband Ben and her young children, Hudson and Hailey.
